Staffing Levels and Locations

Twenty-four-hour service is maintained utilizing the advanced patient care skills of over fifty full-time and part-time paramedics, three Deputy Chiefs, one executive assistant and one EMS Chief.

The paramedics are supervised by the three EMS Deputy Chiefs who are responsible for 3 different portfolios, these being Operations, Quality Assurance and Logistics/Training.

Scheduling and administrative support is maintained by an EMS Executive Assistant who is responsible for paramedic schedules and offers full time administrative support for the EMS Department.

Overseeing the entire program is an EMS Chief, responsible for overall program management and fiscal responsibility.  The EMS department has offices located within the North and South DTSSAB offices as well as an additional office in the Englehart Medical Centre to oversee daily operations from a central location.

During evening, nighttime and weekend time periods, one of the EMS Deputy Chiefs or the EMS Chief is responsible for being the on-call operations duty officer and available to handle the management of any time sensitive issues surrounding the immediate provision of the ambulance service.

Ambulance Response Stations are located in the north at the Kirkland Lake Hospital, in the central area at the Englehart Hospital and in the south at an EMS station located in Haileybury.
