Home Repair Funding
The District of Timiskaming Social Services Administration Board administers funding for the Ontario Priorities Housing Initiatives (OPHI) Program on behalf of the Government of Canada and the Government of Ontario. Currently only the Ontario Renovates Component is being delivered.in the Timiskaming District.
The Ontario Renovates Component of the Ontario Priorities Housing Initiatives program is designed to provide assistance to qualifying homeowners with the cost of repairs to their homes.
Eligibility
To be eligible for funding under this component, households must: Own a home that is their sole and principle residence with a market value at or below $209,994* (as established by the Municipal Property Assessment Corporation) and have an annual gross household income at or below $80,100.
Eligible Activities and Costs
For homeownership repair projects, eligible activities include major repairs and rehabilitation. Repairs should address health and safety concerns and bring houses up to a reasonable standard, but not in excess of its potential market value. The market value of the home must be at or below the average for the area or as determined by the District of Timiskaming Social Services Administration Board. Eligible services for the homeowner may be in one or more of the following areas: structural, electrical, plumbing, heating, fire safety, septic systems and well water or remediation.
